Alpine Head Unit CDE-113BTHAL Filter settings?
My alpine head unit has a high pass filter but no low pass filter.
It gives you the choice between off, 60, 80 or 100hz.
Which would be the best to set it on, and does this only stop frequencies lower than the selected going to the front speakers? Or front and rears? Or front rear and subs?
Also I have 2 Kenwood KFC-3013 subs in a sealed enclosure, running off a 800w rms amp, what should I set my low pass filter on the amp on and sub sonic filter? The frequency response of the subs are 34-300hz.
Sub sonic goes from 20-55
Low pass 30-300
High pass (head unit) off, 60, 80, 100
Speakers are stock, BMW 3 series e46
Thanks!
How much car can I afford given my salary?
Hello everyone,
I've always wanted to own a BMW 1 series or 3 series but I'm afraid i don't make enough and that it would be a huge waste of money. What is the general rule of thumb for assessing how much car one can afford based on their salary?
My salary is 107,000 and I currently have 200,000 in cash + stock in the bank.

Bmw e90 330i for urban/city driving?
Hi im in the car market looking for for a bmw 3 series 2005 onwards to replace my 1999 honda accord. I live in london, to i obviously do a lot of town driving, short journeys occasionaly in atop start traffic (less than 3 miles) .
I was wondering if a e90 330i would be worth it for me, is it more of a motorway car? Having never really owned a sporty/luxury powerful car i am keen on a car such as the 330i, preferably with m sport.
I found my accord manual tiresome to drive and it was quite heavy on fuel in town driving. So i will be definately wanting an auto bmw..but wondering if it would be worth it for me to for a 6 pot bmw engine or a 4 pot, given my circumstances?
BMW 2001 - 2004 3 SERIES Automatic VS Manual?
So i want this to finally get answered... i am thinking of getting a BMW 323i, automatic, with 160,000km. Now i have a friend who use to work for BMW, and he tells me to stay from any type of BMW Automatics, cause of its transmission issues.. he tells me that down the line it isn't a good investment, cause i will run into many issues.. i been reading some forms, and some users mentions how they run into automatic issues, but there are also some users that mention that there is nothing wrong with it...
I don't know what to listen to.. the reason why i want a BMW automatic, cause i don't really want to deal with manual cars in general, cause i run into traffic alot.. and don't enjoy driving manuals during rush hour.. The car that grabbed my interest, is the BMW 323i, automatic, my friend who used to work for BMW tells me that that the 323i model isn't the best model, and it has many issues.. he is recommending me to the 325i instead.. can some one help me out there and tell me if the Automatic 3series really that BAD? and if the 323i serious VS the 325i makes that much of a big difference?
Even if i change the transmission fluid on a Automatic, let say on a 323i or any other BMW 3 series.. i should be okay on the long run?
What would you call this life style?
A lot of people say I live a "wealthy" life style, but personally I think it's just peoples lack of understanding in the devaluation in cars over the years.
My parents own a few cars that would be very expensive brand new, but they always buy them used.
My dad has a:
1997 Jaguar XK8 - original msrp - $78k. What he paid for it - $8k
2000 Porsche 911 - original msrp - $88k. what he paid for it- $16k
2004 BMW 760li - original msrp - $128k. What he paid for it - $22k
That's basically just enough to buy you a new decently equipped BMW 3 series.
My mom has two leases and one car she owns:
2011 BMW 760li - original msrp - $163k. Monthly lease payment - $2,000 ($12k down payment)
2011 BMW 650i - original msrp - $103k. Monthly lease payment - $1,200 ($8k down payment)
2003 Land Rover Range Rover - original msrp - $82k - What she paid for it - $15k
I drive a 2003 Mercedes SL55 amg. original msrp - $124k - What I paid for it $0. My uncle gave it to me for my birth day.
We live in a decent sized house, but we bought it dirt cheap (paid in cash) and it needed a lot of repairs which my dad all did himself.
We go on a 1-2 week vacation once a year, and eat out about once a week.
My friends say I live a "wealthy" and "lavish" life style, but when you think about it, all the cars we actually own were bought for less than $23k, that's less than a decent Honda. And it's not like we live in a million dollar house.
What would you consider this life style? I personally consider it average.
We do live in a wealthier area, it's nothing like Beverly Hills, but according to wikipedia, the average male income is $102k while the average female income is $78k
I'm actually lucky enough to have a job that I love and pays decently at the moment, I understand many people are less fortunate than my family, and would never put them down.
I was saying we never bought a car that cost more than $23k.
And a BMW 335is starts at $60k
I'm not to sure where your going with the whole math and stupidity thing.
