Should I get extended warranty on my new 2012 Chevrolet Malibu 4 cylinder?

About coolant flush ?

Hello, pals: I have a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu, 6 cylinder, 3.1 liters motor. It has 107,000 miles. I need to do a coolant flush because I had it full with water for 9 months. And I heard that water can cause corrosion in the radiator and other parts of the motor and cooling system. The manufacturer recommends Dexcool (the orange one) coolant for this car, but I used water to save money because the car was having several coolant leaks last year. The car had the water pump and 7 motor gaskets replaced on January 2011, so I wanted to be sure there were no more leaks before adding coolant again. Now I plan to do a coolant flush. I have a few questions and I would appreciate if somebody could answer every one of them: 1) Should I add too an antirust like Peak Performance Anti-rust, Sealer and Protector to the coolant to minimize more rusting or only Dexcool coolant when coolant flush is done? 2) May I add the antirust myself to the coolant reservoir after the coolant flush or does it have to be added directly to the radiator by a professional mechanic ? I ask this to be sure that the antirust is added if it is really necessary. 3) Should the professional mechanic or myself add a water pump lubricant to protect the water pump replaced on January 2011 after being exposed to water for 9 months instead of coolant ? Thanks for your attention or any feedback, Have everybody a Happy 2012 year! Sheila

About cooling system maintenance?

Hello: I have a 6 cylinder Chevrolet Malibu 2000. I have read in the Internet that Dexcool coolant (the orange one recommended by manufacturer) could damage motor gaskets to a high mileage car. My car has 107,000 miles. Because I live in a tropical climate, I am wondering If I could use instead water with antirust to fill the cooling system and avoid using Dexcool coolant. 1) Can distilled water with Anti-rust, sealer and protector brand Peak Performance damage motor parts, radiator or cooling system parts ? 2) Can it be better for the motor and cooling system of a high mileage car than Dexcool coolant ? Thanks for any feedback or recommendations. Have a Happy 2012 year! Sheila
