Recent Ford Crown Victoria Discussions:

Do I have a bad IAC, bad coil pack(s), and/or a transmission problem?

Car is a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria LX with 138,200 miles, put new spark plugs in in December so I don't think that's the problem. First off when I turn the car on it seems fine, but when I put it in gear(drive/reverse) the idle drops really low and it stalls if I move the wheel a lot or try to let the idle carry the car, I can also slightly feel the engine vibrating every so often. When I put it back in park and the idle speed goes back up, I can still feel the vibration but it's less frequent and less severe. This leads me to believe I either have a faulty COP misfire or a bad IAC. Ever since I had the car it had a tendency to randomly stall out completely when put in reverse after idling but only recently has it affected both reverse AND forward gears. When in movement, the car gets a certain shudder that's at 34 or 35 MPH or at 42MPH and if I put my foot into it a little bit more it stops the shuddering(makes me think maybe it's the IAC but could also be a coil acting up at a particular RPM or torque converter shudder) and other than that isn't bad except when I go up steep hills. I was told I was supposed to replace my transmission fluid a year ago, which I plan to do now that I have money, I just need to buy some jackstands tomorrow. But I'm wondering what's causing my problems? After I buy the jackstands, I'll only have enough money for either a new set of coils(no sense replacing just one when the others are likely to go at that mileage) or a Motorcraft IAC(aftermarket brands do not last very long at all, even for something so small and silly)

question about Ford Crown Victoria keyless entry system?

I recently purchased a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria. It has the keyless entry system with the number pad on the door. I do not have the password for the door. It is usually written on the hinge of the rear trunk lid, but this decal has been torn off on my car. I know the password is written one other place, but where? The dealer told me it might be on the steering column, but I can't find it there. Any hints would be appreciated. Can dealership look this up by VIN number?

Which of these would be the best first car?

I am looking for a first car. I have a few in mind, and I would like some assistance in my choice. -I am looking to spend no more than 1500 dollars. -I do not mind making minor repairs after buying. -I have a select few cars in mind. These are: 1985-89 Lincoln Town Car 1992-98 Mercury Grand Marquis/ Ford Crown Victoria -All of these with the 5.0 or 4.6 motor and automatic. 1980's-1996 Ford F-150 with 300 straight-six and five-speed. -A 1990's Chevrolet S-10 may also come into the picture. Again, all I can spend is $1500.

neutral safety switch?

Hello, I have a 2002 crown victoria lx, i had recently change the fuel pump filter, from being stranded on the side of the highway, i had rented a tow dolly trailer and had transported to the house, the only way i figured out to get the car off of the tow dolly trailer, was to but the ford crown vic in neutral and push off into park, when i had change the fuel pump and strainer, the vehicle had started, but now here is the problem, brake light went out, when started it cannot get out of park, unless you disconnect the negative battery then put in neutral, put back the neg cable then start, i was wondering if any one can give me any pointers on what it may be before i spend any money on what i don't have to be looked at, these are the possibility i had gotten, brake switch or neutral safety switch, Okay, bare with me. Going to check all fuse's and look into the p.c.m, (what does pcm stand for). okay fuses are good, don't know what is next,

does the ford crown victoria, mercury grand marquis, and lincoln town car seat six? if they do, how?

i studied it looks like it seats six I DO NOT KNOW HOW. PLEASE HELP!!!

how do you change transmission screen....?

i have a 1985 ford ltd crown victoria and the transmission screen needs to be changed...can someone send me some info or some pics on how i go about doing this? well it wouldn't actually be me but just again if i can get some links or some pics sent to me on where it is at and how to replace it. then i was told that after it is changed i need to put about 3 quarts of transmission fluid in there because its going to leak transmission fluid when you change it, can someone verify if this is true. and what are my chances that it is actually the transmission screen and that the transmission isnt slipping if this just started to happen and its not been drove since its been doing this, mechanic said that it just needed transmission screen and not to drive it until it was fixed.

Having Volkswagen Phaeton is good choice for yellow cab taxi?

I like the size and power. However I do not know if Phaeton is reliable and cost-effective as maintenance? I have been driving Ford Crown Victoria and Chevrolet Caprice for years. I am sure it not much different on fuel economy. I am wondering if Phaeton can last even longer that can go far as 300,000 miles with low cost repairs and maintenance? I am concerns about parts needed for repairs cost because Phaeton is very RARE in USA. Unlike my Ford car, parts are cheap and easy. What you think about VW Phaeton as taxi yellow cab and able to maximum profit from this car as business if not expensive to have them.

2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor?

Is there any way to buy a pristine Ford CVPI anywhere is SoCaL? I'm talking about a 2011 model with 70 miles or less that has never been used by any agency. Fresh from the factory to my hands, although they stop producing them in September 2011. How can I get one?
