Ford Escort Zx2 having trouble starting and don't know why.?
I have a 2000 Ford Escort Zx2 that has trouble starting. When you turn the key it won't do anything at all. It doesn't turn over and doesn't make any noise what so ever. It has a new Alternator, battery, starter, timing belt, serpitine belt and I can't figure out why it won't start. When you go to turn it on all the lights come on and the radio works just fine so I know its not the battery. I just don't know what would be making it do this. After a few minutes there are time it will start but most of the time it takes a little while to get it to start. Another thing most of the time the only way it will start is if it is in neutral. Anyone have any ideas?
It is an automatic transmission and everything that I have listed above is All brand new. The starter is a month old.
Im having car seat problems?
I have a 2000 ford escort zx2 and im having a baby due in October. So I got a car seat. My car has a tether strap anchor, but not lower latch anchors and because it's a rear facing car seat, there's no tether strap on the car seat just the lower latches. I put the car seat bass in with just the seat belt and its really wobbly and I dont feel safe with just putting it in with the seat belt, so I made my own anchors for the latches and am using both that and the seat belt. Now, it's a lot less wobbly and if the homemade anchors fail I still have the seat belt securing the car seat. But my question is, is there rear facing car seats with just the tether strap so I can strap the bass in with just the seat belt and then make me feel a little better by anchoring the car seat with a tether strap?? I've looked around online everything and nothing makes me feel safe, i really wish i had anchors in my car, but i dont, so anyone knows of a rear facing car seat with a tether strap i would like to know the name and possibly a link if you can so i can look at it. Gearing ratios of automobiles?
Could somebody explain to me why some models/makes of vehicles have a higher or lower difference than other vehicles? To give you an example of what I'm talking about, I used to have a 5 speed ford escort ZX2 that ran at a higher RPM. It would run at around 26 thousand RPM at 50MPH. My father has a 5 speed dodge stratus that would run at higher speed in lower RPM. For his car, you can travel at 50mph and run below 2 thousand RPM. I recently bought a 6 speed VW jetta GLI that runs at the same RPM as my escort did if you don't count the extra gear. Why are some cars built to run at much higher RPM than others?
Yes it the escort and jetta run pretty high. I never much thought about it until I noticed that there were a lot of other vehicles that run at much lower RPM's. I'm also wondering if the fact that some cars run with a faster engine speed would age the engine quicker
ford escort indicator problem?
hi, i have 2 issues with my indicators.
problem 1,
when i indicate to go left or right, every now and then my full beam headlights come on. it only happens now and then
problem 2
when i indicate left, the indicator arm will not self right when the steering goes back to straight. so i have to move the lever myself.
any advice would be grateful.
i have the ford escort x reg(2000) 1.6 16v zetec petrol engine.

Hi im thinking about buy a 1998 Ford Escort off craigslist and this guy says: "Bought a new car so I am selling my old car.It is a 1998 Ford Escort ZX2 with 160,000 miles on it.The only problem with this car is that its got a bad bank sensor for the tranny it an easy fix. I have been driving it like this for many years.Car drives very nice and runs very well.It is also a automatic"
So where is the bank sensor? Is it really easy to fix? And Can you drive on it?

Just wondering what engines have been succesfully installed and used and road or race tested in an Ford Escort mk1 or mk2 that people know of, i.e. ford, honda, bmw, Mercedes, Rover etc ? any info would be interesting to me to know and much appreciated

I have a ford Escort xr3efi 1990and have got an upgrade for the back panel?
the panel has round lights with wires but no connectors, which don't fit the plug connectors on the car!!!so does anyone have a a wiring diagram that's in simple English or know where i can get one,thanks for your help.

Just wondering,
Does a Ford Escort Mk 1 or 2 sound different when powered by a modern ford cosworth engine from a modern ford escort or does it sound different of course with same exhaust system. The buchon and mustang planes sound similar to the supermarine spitfire with the rolls royce merlin engine but are different none the less each with there own quirks due to airframe differences I suppose. Is this the case with a 1970's and modern day ford escort ? any info would be appreciated.

When I shift into neutral from 5 and 4 gear and even sometimes in 2nd i have no idea what it could be i haven't got an oil change since august and it starts over heating when the heater ain't on full blast and i ain't very smart when it comes to engines and need a good place to bring it close to Marysville wa can you help???
