1989 Honda Prelude clutch replacement cost?

I am looking at buying a 1989 Honda Prelude. The only problem it has is it needs a clutch. I was wondering what the cost of the clutch replacment would be? Any mechanics know the answer. This info may help also. They are asking 1000 dollars. The car looks to be in pretty good shape and has nice wheels on it and a sunroof. It is a five speed manual transmission. Any thoughts? Is 1000 a good price? I was thinking trying to get it for 7 to 8 hundred and getting a clutch put in it???? They are asking 1000 dollars for the car. So you think itd cost around 700 to 1000 for a clutch to be put in? Would it be worth doing that?

Help picking out first car (again)?

Hey, so I had it pretty much narrowed down to either a Honda prelude vtec 96' or a Honda prelude SI 92' mostly because their local, they're in relatively good condition (haven't gone into TOO much detail looking at them). I've heard alooot, about how great the Madza miata is, though. I guess it would be a bad idea not to consider it, judging because they both are similar in price, and longevity. Does the Mazda miata really compare though? I wouldn't even know what year of miata to look at. Also, I realize these cars all are pretty small, but I don't really need alot of space atm. I really just want a nice car that will last me for some years, maybe, and still be nice to drive. Price, I guess, goes without saying is my main limiting factor. Which of the three cars should I look at to get, miata compared to the other two, and if the miata which year should I look at that still has it comparable to the other two.

Help picking out first car?

I've limited it down to a couple in good condition locally, and was wondering what you guys thought, or any suggestions of other cars? I don't really know cars to well, at all. 98 Prelude Speedo not working ?

I have a 98 Honda prelude 5speed base. My speedo quit working back around Oct. 2011. I didn't think much of it since I was only driving back and forth to work. Recently the speedo has begun to bounce around causing miles to track. Doesn't matter if I'm at a stop or just driving down the street. So far I've replaced VSS. The shaft that goes into the tranny New cluster Even cut off the old clip and sodered on a new one for the VSS. I've played around with the wires while the car is on to see if maybe the speedo would jump hoping it was a wiring problem but still no luck
