Is it bad to get a 5year old mattress?

I knew my dad had a facebook for about 2 years before I sent him a message 2 weeks ago. Last January, a cousin from my fathers family added me and my sister, and we spoke to eachother it was nice to speak to someone from that side of the family. But she just deleted us out of the blue. My sister wasn't bothered, she knows what my dads family is like, because she is 10 years older than me, and he didn't properly leave until she was 16/7.. but I was only 6/7 and have very vague memories of him, but i was... I sent her a message asking why but she never replied. We never speak about him, nor do I ask my mum about him. I know it must of hit my sister harder, because he used to spend all his time with her then he just left, she was very naughty at school and got kicked out. He told my mum he was leaving because he didn't want me, another naughty kid, but i'm not? And my sister was only naughty because my mum and dad split up when she was 10 and I was yet to be born (3 months after), he left on Christmas day. His mum gave him money to leave my mum, because she didn't like it that I have an older sister that isn't his child, and that my mum was married when she was young 5 years before she even met my dad. The message I sent wasn't rude, and it wasn't asking for anything that involved effort, it was just simply why did you leave sort of thing. I told him about my successes in my GCSES and that I plan to go to university, and said that I just wanted him to be proud, even if i'll never know wether or not he was. I don't know what to do, i've coped so well for ages and ages. I never thought about it before, and I was just happy. Obviously I used to get jelous of people for having dads that loved and cared for them, but I never said anything or thought about it properly until now. I find myself telling my boyfriend to appreciate time he has with his dad, because his mum and dad split up when he was young too; but he still sees his dad every few weeks. I don't know what to do?

Friend with depression and anorexia?

Hi, Tomorrow I'm going out to meet a friend for the first time after she told me she had depression and anorexia. I guessed about the anorexia (it was quite apparent) but knew nothing about the depression and feel terrible for not noticing. I'm useless about saying the right stuff so if anyone's had the conditions or been in a similar situations what's the best thing to say? I don't want to unwittingly say something inflammatory but I want to be supportive and engaged. She's already getting help
