'99 toyota avalon
Suddenly the auto feature for the headlights stopped working, the preset driver seat buttons don't work until the ignition switch is on, the dome light doesn't come on when the driver door is opened but works when the passenger door is opened and the chime doesn't sound when the key is left in the ignition. This all happened at the same time. The fuses test good. Could this be a bad relay? If someone knows, which relay is it?
What is causing the problem in my car's steering?
I have a 2002 Toyota Avalon. I can easily turn the wheel while the car is sitting still and it always steers easily and smoothly for about the first 15 minutes of driving. After about 15 minutes, it becomes tougher to steer. Sometimes it's harder to steer left, but it's mostly harder to steer right. Sometimes there's no problem at all. No unusual noises, sights, or smells when it happens. The car feels like it just wants to go straight. The tires are properly inflated, the cv boots aren't torn, and the power steering fluid level perfect and the pump doesn't leak.
My guesses for the potential problem(s) is/are any or all of the following:
- failing power steering pump
- steering gear needs greased
- rack needs replaced
- cv joint(s) beginning to fail
- worn out ball joints
- tie rods need replaced
I'm hoping it's just a failing power steering pump or the steering gear needing greased because I can do them myself without too much hassle. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I have problem with Toyota cars and they are not listening to my request. Why?
I am a tall man and drive toyota corolla which has 41.3 inches leg room. The leg room is awfully tight for me and my legs get cramped. I contacted Toyota motor corporation to express my grievance and requested that in future models they please increase the leg room at least 2 to 3 more inches. However the new 2012 models have the same leg room dimension. They ignored my request. In fact corolla has more leg room than avalon, camry, venza and sienna, but its just 41.3 inches. In comparison hyundai, nissan, subaru, kia all go around 44 inches at least. My question is why did they refuse to increase leg room despite my grievance? I am sure a lot of other people have expressed grievance about insufficient leg room to Toyota but they act deaf and every next year's model they carry same dimensions. Is this arrogance on their part?
Since 2007, I have been constantly complaining to Toyota to increase leg room in next year's model. But they don't ever listen and its been 5 years they are continuing to be stubborn
i like Toyota's reliability and long term dependability and I am not comfortable on trying another car company in that aspect. But the leg room is just awful
I read an article about 2013 toyota upcoming models. And the author said, "forget it if you are expecting more leg room as that will never happen". Why not?
lexus es300 2002 and toyota avalon 2002?
which car is better and last longer. my dad has toyota avalon 156000 miles while lexus es300 only 100000 miles. I don't know which one should take. I just want the good car. i dont care how it look or sporty they are. please help me decide.
1998 Toyota Avalon XLS shaking?
My car shakes uncontrollably when I drive at 40mph, it's like being bounced on someones knee. I haven't driven it on the highway, seeing as I only got it the other day (free from my aunt), so I don't know if the shaking goes away at a higher speed.
So, just today, I had it serviced. I got new tires, and had the oil changed. The back struts are brand new, and the mechanic said the front ones are rusty, and that he can't tell what kind of shape they're in. Could this terrible distracting shaking be from the front struts? It's starting to freak me out, I thought changing the tires would help out a little bit, I guess I was wrong :[
Also, the breaks are new. So it's not that..
